December 27/28, End of Year update(EDIT)

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 12, 2008, 5:34 PM

Three things or so to talk about tonight. This'll go casually. I'm just going to type it out.

First off: Christmas just passed. There's this thing about divorced parents that really screws up the holiday. On one hand, you 'get twice the stuff'. Twice the time, twice the Christmas, twice the gifts. Yay? I guess. It's not what it sounds. Conflicts arise, disagreements between the two parties of parents over time, gifts, money and the like. Still, I ended up much better off at the end of the year. My dad decided to do a 'Family present' of redoing the entire family room entertainment system. Brand new TV, shelves, etc. And at my mom's, I ended up with A freaking amazing laptop of my own. I had a rough time choosing it over a Canon Rebel, but I ended up with a gift that I payed $230 of. I ended up with a damn good laptop. It's actually almost twice as good as my old desktop. Weighing in at 2GB of RAM, 200GB hard drive, Intel Centrino duo processor, and running Vista, this off-the-floor model of HP Pavilion dv6000 is now my best friend.

Second on the list to talk about, I made a very interesting discovery recently. I was attempting to recreate a Plastic fractal, namely When Harmony Clashes. Halfway through, I got fed up with the blur and started deviating from the normal Plastic fractal method. That's when I came upon these specific parameters which are incredibly intriguing. Everything you'll need to know is below.

NEEDED:
--Apophysis 2.07
--Plugins (Scry, at least)

INSTRUCTIONS: First off, you open up the parameters in Apophysis (2.07+plugins), and you see that it's pretty much blank. Lame, I know. Go to the transform editor; you'll notice that transform 1 is blank. How weird, right? Well, that's where you come in. You put in whatever you want there, and almost any variation will give you a different result. That's only the first step. From there, you can move transform 2 (in very small amounts) to obtain radical differences. The parameters are basically a plastic fractal, with some space left for you to fill in.

Now then, I'm going to share some parameters with you all. I trust that putting them out on a journal isn't going to be a problem because you are all creative enough to use them to the extent that the work becomes your own, and not just a simple change to the parameters (Which does, admittedly, make quite a difference in the output). Be forewarned, these parameters, by themselves, look like junk, but they are very powerful. Things change very quickly. And without further suspense:

AND NOW...I'd like to take this opportunity to present to you...the "Potential" series of fractals, by me and my friends in dAmn #apophysis. (If ever there was a fractalist in need, #apophysis is there for you) Right, so anyway, here is where I will feature all of the fractals made from the "Potential" parameters:

Vista makes me gag.
But 2GB of RAM, nice.

hmm these params are interesting, they are similar to the blob technique that i used in graphite dimensions but more flexible in that it makes more than just that circley spiral thing.

And curious, have you tried a julia variation with it yet?

Well congrats to you for getting a new laptop. I only got games when I really need more memory for my PC.

But Happy New Year to you. =D

So I'm going to comment on the stuff I understand. New entertainment system and laptop: yay!

Whether to be glorified by history or abandoned by fate–to be accident's victim or to be prophecy's chosen child: It makes no difference.
:iconmeiresthai:
Ah. You talk more about games than memory, though.

Yeah, it's similar to the blob, I know. The size of the second transform is what changes that, though.

Not yet. I've still got quite a few variations to test. Changing the scry does a lot to make it interesting. I'm still putting stuff out from those params.

I got all that extra RAM so vista could run and still keep itself shut up about whining to me.
